the second year in a row, a Bryan W.
Whitfield Memorial Hospital Employee has
been recognized as a “Healthcare Hero”
by the West Alabama Regional Hospital
Council of the Alabama Hospital Association.
Tonnie Craig, an orderly at BWWMH, was one
of nine area hospital employees chosen for
the honor last week.

Angela Hurt,
RN, a staff nurse at BWWMH, was among 10
West Alabama hospital employees honored
recently for their dedication to the health
care industry. The Hospital Heroes contest
is the seventh annual recognition sponsored
by the Alabama Hospital Association (AlaHA).
BWWMH honored Hurt with a reception on
February 19, 2010 in the hospital classroom.

employees were recognized in May for 20
years of service each to the organization.
Wellness Center Director Betsy Adams,
Assistant Administrator Arthur Evans,
Payroll Clerk Kathy Lewis, and Director of
Physical Therapy Don Sprewell were honored
during the annual Employee Service Awards
Tea with 48 other employees during the
Annual Employee Service Awards Tea held as
part of National Hospital Week festivities.

Documented
evidence of the age-old adage, “mother
knows best” was engraved in brass in
December when Angie Hurt, RN, received a
plaque commemorating her selection as the
Tombigbee Healthcare Authority’s 2008
Employee of the Year. Hurt, who has worked
in the Patient Care Services Division since
2004, jokes that she only became a nurse
because her mother made her.
