Apparently,
Cathy Burton was the only person at the
BWWMH Christmas party who was surprised when
her name was called out as the 2006 Employee
of the Year.
“I had no idea they’d choose
me,” she said. “Everyone was treating me
so nice that day but I didn’t figure out
what was happening.
“I was very surprised when they
called my name,” she said. “I was
talking and I didn’t hear him say my name
at first.”
An employee in the Housekeeping Department
for the past eight years, Burton was named
Employee of the Month in January, thereby
qualifying her for the Employee of the Year
honor.
“Cathy is very quiet and
unassuming,” said Mike Marshall, CEO,
“but she’s one of those people you never
have to worry if she’s getting her job
done or not.”
That dedication, teamed with her pleasant
demeanor, is what sets her apart as a leader
in the facility Marshall contends.
“She’s very pleasant to be around and
serves as an excellent role model for other
staff.”
“I just enjoy what I do here,”
she says. “I like meeting people and
everyone here is so nice. It just made me
feel kinda special to be chosen for this
honor.”
A
resident of Forkland, Burton and her
husband, Johnny, have five children,
Antonio, Trenedy, Ashley, Ashton and Major.
Others nominated for the award were: Bobby
Martin, Alberta Greene, Landora Bullock,
Nancy Northcutt, Alex Moore, Charlotte
Crepps, Ellison Smith, Ernestine Kimbrough,
Patti Luker, Irene Bryant and Alex Smith.
